As children and teenagers, they helped their parents with all aspects of farm life - milking their house cow, growing fruit and vegetables and rearing their own meat. With food being such an important part of family life, it was no surprise that both Bec & Hannah chose careers based on their love of food.
After completing a year’s diploma in food and wine in London, Bec began her career as a chef. Her work was mainly freelance, providing travel opportunities in the UK and abroad while cooking for high profile clients. It was varied and interesting and she loved the excitement of new jobs, meeting new clients and working in new places. After getting married in 2007 she was keen to travel less and enjoy more time at home.
Having graduated from Oxford Brookes University, Hannah went on to live city life in London where she firstly managed a deli in Clapham before joining the food team at Good Housekeeping magazine. Although she enjoyed the fast pace of city living and the buzz of working for a busy monthly glossy, the idea of establishing a new café deli based on her passion for food was too much to let go.
As soon as the right property came up both sisters moved back to the area to pursue their joint dream and, after lots of hard work and planning, Cameron & Swan opened its doors on 10th May 2008.
